KS1 & KS2 Art workshops

"I like doing art at school because it feels like you're getting a break from learning even though you are still learning. I learn new things and it helps me remember stuff I thought I'd forgotten."
Rory, Year 5

I couldn't have put it better myself, Rory.

 Art helps children learn about subjects in a different way. Not only that, but it teaches resilience, too. How many times have you had a child tell you "I'm no good at this", only for them to go on and produce a piece of work they feel proud of and can't wait to share?

Teachers - Teaching art can be a little overwhelming if you're not 'arty' but I can do some of the heavy lifting for you by creating a session that will deliver your learning objectives and engage your pupils. Workshops can be delivered in person but for some topics, it may be possible over Zoom.

To give you an idea of just some of the things I can do, I can...

  • Teach your Early Years and KS1 children about shapes through the work of Mondrian;
  • Combine DT with a history lesson and help you create your school's own Bayeux Tapestry wall of canvas bag designs;
  • Use simple printing techniques to showcase learning;
  • Use textiles - collage, weaving, Batik, tie dye, felt -  to show that art isn't all pencils and paint;
  • Help pupils draw their own self-portraits with simple biro;
  • Improve the quality of the work in books

Just let me know what you need and I'll work with you to create a brief to support your learning objectives. I can be booked for half-days, full days or, if it's over Zoom, by the hour. It's up to you!

The cost will depend on what you need, but as someone who has worked in a primary school setting for more than six years, I know how tight budgets are. My aim is to deliver affordable sessions to schools for the benefit of our children.
